Facelift
Holistic rejuvenation with a natural radiance
The key facts at a glance: the modern facelift
- What is a facelift? A surgical procedure in which not only the skin but also the underlying tissue structures (SMAS) are specifically lifted and repositioned. Both the entire face and individual areas such as the cheeks, chin, neck or forehead can be tightened.
- The aim: To restore youthful facial contours – cheeks, jawline, neck – without changing your personal expression. Our principle: if you can see the facelift, it is too much.
- The method: With the SMAS technique, the supporting tissue layer is lifted and fixed, so that the tension does not lie on the skin – for a natural, long-lasting result. Depending on skin ageing and your wishes, the treatment ranges from a mini facelift for mild changes to a full facelift for the face and neck, including specific partial areas.
- Scars: With tissue-sparing incisions along the aesthetic units and along the hairline, we keep scars as small and inconspicuous as possible, so that the postoperative result looks aesthetic and harmonious.
- Combinations: On request, a facelift can be supplemented with an eyelid lift, neck lift or autologous fat treatment (lipofilling) to achieve a harmonious overall picture
Natural aesthetics: the face in balance
Over time, gravity and diminishing tissue tension leave visible traces: the cheeks sink, deep folds form between the nose and the corners of the mouth, the jawline loses its contour, and slackened zones develop on the neck. In the process the face changes its shape – the youthful oval increasingly becomes a rectangular outline that we unconsciously associate with age.
A modern facelift addresses exactly this: it turns back the clock without changing you as a person. As long-experienced surgeons with a deep understanding of facial anatomy, we work specifically where volume has been lost and contours have given way – for a result that looks fresh and rested.
Our approach: substance instead of tension
Too much pull on the skin creates the well-known “wind tunnel effect” – we therefore rely on the SMAS facelift or deep-plane facelift, because it addresses the cause:
- Structural correction: The deep muscle and connective tissue layer (SMAS) is lifted and fixed where it sat in younger years.
- Tension-free skin adaptation: The skin is laid loosely over the new foundation – without pull, without distortion.
- Durability: Because the supporting layer has been corrected, the result is more stable and longer-lasting than with pure skin tightening.
Should you wish for another lift after a few years, this is possible at any time. An age-appropriate, fresher face can often be achieved with a targeted, minimal procedure.
Treatment areas
Every facelift is planned individually with you. Depending on the findings and your wishes, we treat the entire face or individual zones:
Midface lift
Lifts the cheek area and softens pronounced nasolabial folds. Often combined with a lower eyelid correction.
Lower facelift & jawline (SMAS lifting)
Our most common procedure. Tightens the cheeks, chin area and neck in a single operation. Permanently eliminates jowls and marionette lines and redefines the jawline.
Neck lift
Corrects slackened neck muscles (platysma), excess skin and bothersome fatty tissue. Depending on the findings, from targeted liposuction to complete muscle tightening.
Forehead and brow lift
Lifts the forehead and eyebrows so that the gaze appears open and alert again. Possible as an open procedure or gently by endoscopy.
S-lift (minimal procedure)
The smallest lifting procedure – suitable for younger patients with little tissue sagging or for anyone who wants only a subtle change. Outpatient under local anaesthesia, short recovery time.
Why the facelift belongs in the hands of experienced, board-certified surgeons
- Safety: Technical skill and a deep understanding of the anatomical structures of the face reduce the risk of sensory disturbances, nerve injuries and restrictions of facial expression.
- Naturalness: We assess the result in advance and consistently ensure that your individual facial expression is preserved.
- A variety of methods: We master the most modern and recognised techniques – from SMAS tightening to the extended SMAS lift.
- Transparency: With before-and-after results from a large number of facelifts in a similar starting situation, we show you the various surgical options.
Your path to a rejuvenated ME
A decision in favour of a facelift deserves time and an open conversation. In the consultation – for which we take plenty of time for you – we analyse your facial structure, listen to your wishes and show you openly and transparently what is realistically achievable. It is helpful if you bring photos from earlier years – so that together we can plan where the journey should go.
Our aspiration: after the procedure you should not look “operated”, but like yourself – rested, fresh, vital.
What you should know before the procedure
- Blood-thinning medication (including aspirin) should be stopped at least two weeks before the operation.
- Before the procedure, an ECG and blood count are taken.
- Heavy smoking increases the risk of wound-healing disorders and should be significantly reduced before the procedure.
- In cases of a pronounced tendency to keloid scars, a facelift is only suitable to a limited extent – we discuss this openly with you.
- For patients with less tissue sagging, minimally invasive alternatives are available: Ultherapy, hyaluronic acid fillers, lipofilling or thread lifting.
