Liposuction
Targeted shaping for a harmonious silhouette
Liposuction is an established and effective aesthetic surgery procedure for the permanent removal of localised fat deposits that stubbornly resist diets or physical activity. The aim of liposuction is not primarily weight reduction, but the targeted modelling and contouring of the body for a more harmonious appearance.
Areas of application and indications for liposuction:
Liposuction can be used successfully on various regions of the body to reduce bothersome accumulations of fat and improve the proportions. Frequently treated areas include
- Abdomen and waist
- Hips ("saddlebags")
- Thighs (inner and outer)
- Knees
- Upper arms
- Back areas
- Chin area (submental liposuction) to define the chin line and reduce a double chin.
Liposuction is particularly worthwhile when, despite normal weight or after weight loss, localised fat pads remain that impair the overall aesthetic picture. Good skin elasticity is advantageous for an optimal result, as the skin should adapt well to the new contour after the excess fat has been removed.
The liposuction procedure:
In our treatment, we rely on the most modern and gentle liposuction techniques, which enable precise fat removal while minimising trauma to the surrounding tissue. Before the procedure, detailed planning is carried out, in which the areas to be suctioned are marked exactly.
The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient or short-stay basis, depending on the extent of the liposuction, under tumescent local anaesthesia, twilight sedation or general anaesthesia. With the tumescent technique, a special solution is infiltrated into the treatment area, which loosens the fatty tissue, produces local anaesthesia and minimises bruising. Fine cannulas are then introduced through the smallest skin incisions, through which the excess fatty tissue is gently and controllably suctioned off.
Our experienced specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery have comprehensive expertise in various liposuction techniques and select the procedure best suited to you. The safety and satisfaction of our patients are always the priority. Current studies and our many years of clinical experience confirm the high success rate and safety of liposuction when it is performed by qualified specialists and in compliance with the highest medical standards.
After liposuction:
Immediately after the procedure, special compression garments are applied, which must be worn for a few weeks. These support the healing process, reduce swelling and help the skin to adapt to the new body shape. Slight swelling, bruising and a temporary feeling of numbness in the treated area are normal postoperative phenomena and usually subside within a few weeks. You will receive detailed information about aftercare and behaviour after the operation in a personal consultation.
The final result of liposuction is usually visible after a few weeks, once the swelling has completely subsided and the tissue has regenerated.
Individual consultation is essential:
The suitability of liposuction, the choice of technique and the results to be expected vary from person to person. In a comprehensive consultation, our specialists analyse your specific situation, discuss your wishes and inform you in detail about the procedure, possible risks and the postoperative course. It is our concern to give you a realistic set of expectations and to find, together with you, the optimal solution for your needs.
